China raises the red tag. The Chinese Communist Party finds a new application for RFID tags, normally used to monitor retail inventory--it's using them to keep track of its members.

...and in the process raises many red flags. According to the article, the technology is being used for security purposes: access to different gates throughout the Communist Party Congress.

But it doesn't take a genius to figure out its real purpose: track who's meeting whom, when, and for how long. You can expect version 2.0 to be mandatory for all citizens. The technology, by the way, comes courtesy of Texas Instruments.
