[John Robb] - Knowledge Workers and K-Logs:

When I worked at Forrester (a top technology research company), the CEO George Colony used to say (paraphrased), "in a sense our business is a like a mill. We grind raw grain into flour. It is my job as CEO to scoop up the grain that fell to the floor and put it back on the grindstone so it can be made into useful product. Everything our analysts think about while on the job has value. We need to find new ways to capture that thinking and sell it to clients." This is profound.  In my view, this is something that all companies should strive for.

Este artículo es lo que yo llamo una "chispa" - léanlo y verán todas las cosas que se les empiezan a ocurrir. Escríbanlas y cuénteme.

Hey, I've just upgraded to Radio 8.0.2 and my new editor functions are still there. I know it's not the safe way to do it but until I figure out a more permanent way this should do.

Ok, it's getting late (actually it's getting early, very early in the morning) but this is what I did.

I added a new function called "lookUpWrd" to the wysiwyg editor. It uses the disk icon for now, until I get around to making a new toolbar image. You simply select a word and click on the disk icon and it automatically creates a link to dictionary.com that will open a new window with the word's definition when clicked. It's that simple. If nothing is selected when you click on the disk icon, you'll receive a message asking you to please select a word.

You should be able to get the code here (gems/newEditBox_1.txt).

Enjoy!

And now the word to look up - vicariously - should open up in a new window.

Ok, if this is working correctly, you should now be able to click on the following word - philomath  - and look it up at dictionary.com
